They must use the interview as a vetting process on who to keep, or who to out with tenure.
I see it more as an initiation thing for the particularly big-headed newbies in the field. Sandy’s a bit of a legend but even with physical proof, the new guys are sometimes like “pff, yeah okay, she doesn’t hurt anyone ever, that’s unfounded” and then that scene happens
Sandys making me now think ice is scarier than fire. I mean, LOOK at her expression the entire time.
Maybe one day they’ll get a reporter who at least bothers to refer to her by her own name. She’d never admit it, but she’ll hate that reporter slightly less.
