To be fair, every generation or two this whole idea of sparring in an abandoned room comes back around, although not to the level that we saw with this group where it’s more like a spectator sport. Usually the cats in question would keep it quiet like an actual duel
How did they even know where this place was? I thought the Head of the Department had no idea about this place and it’s location, as said in the 15th page of this chapter. Did Flint’s lightning gave their location away?
Abandoned/decommissioned training rooms are pretty close to the still active ones, and while the cats tend to choose the most out of the way one they can find (not to mention switching up which room they choose each time to cover their tracks) there’s a very slim chance that a cat would wander nearby at just the right moment to catch something like Flint’s very loud crackle of energy.
And if it was anyone but Pickett they would have probably thought it was either some random electrical malfunction or knew what it was and purposely ignored it
But Pickett’s been involved with her fair share of duels (indirectly or otherwise) and knew exactly what was happening, and after dealing with the events at the beginning of the chapter, she wanted to regain SOME control with the idiot cats that wanted to fight eachother unsupervised
UH OH
Huh
Guess the secret room wasn’t so secret after all
